The last time we say goodbye by Cynthia Hand-book review

Hey Everyone, today I'm doing a review about a really sad book with a really hard topic in it. The last time we say goodbye is a heart-wrenching story about suicide and its consequences, also about grief, finding yourself, but most importantly about family. I finished this book yesterday, but I still think about it.
The story is about a girl, whose brother committed suicide a few months ago and she tries to deal with it. She doesn't really know what to do, she is just pushing everyone away and has panic attacks. As I got deeper into the story, I saw that she also cannot not deal with guilt, but at the beginning I didn't know, why she felt guilty at the beginning. Her psychiatrist gives her the assignment to write down what she remembers about her brother or to be exact the last time her brother was happy. She doesn't want to do it, but eventually she starts to do it. From her writings I could see and get to know Tyler and his story. He is typically the guy, who you don't want to die, but we all know he  is already dead. From the beginning of the book, I could sense that she is blaming herself for some reason as I wrote it earlier in this review. When I read the first few pages and I kind of started to get to know the characters better, I eventually saw mess. Everything about their lives was just apart. The hole family just wasn't okay. And I felt really bad, because if I think about it, they didn't communicate, even after everything happened. The mother developed an drinking problem and the dad just tried to forget. Lex was the only character, who made improvement and she also tried to help to everyone else towards the end. I'm warning you there is a love interest in this book and you're going to love it, because it wasn't a really strong line in the story, but it really was there all the time. It was the exact amount, this book needed, in order to not take the attention from the more serious topics in this book, such as family, love, and teenage suicide. Because a lot of kids out there are suicidal and depressed like Tyler was in this book in these days and their parents don't realize, what is happening inside of their head. It's really important to raise awareness about this issue, in my opinion it's a huge improvement that more and more writers are building mental-illness into their stories, in order to let people look into them a little bit more and maybe if we talk about these issues a little bit more often, then one day one person won't judge the other, because of mental-illness.
The only thing I was missing was more Tyler. Because I only got to read the letter which he wrote to Ashley and that just wasn't enough. I wanted to see into his head a little bit more, in order to understand him and his actions. I only got to see him trough Lex's eyes and that wasn't just enough. I understand that it was possibly, because the writer wanted to make her point of view the strongest in the book. She maybe wanted us to see the recovery from the actions, instead of undressing the big "Why?" question. Because sometimes we can not understand the things that happen to us in life, no matter how hard we are trying. Maybe we don't have to. We just have to except them and move on, maybe learn from it.
Hope you enjoyed reading this review, feel free to share your opinion in the comments.
Until next time,

The Young Elites by Marie Lu-a very short book review

Hey Everyone, today I don't have a positive review for you, but I hope you enjoy reading it.
Let's start with the fact that I didn't really like this book, but I do feel like,it could get better in the next book. It was nice to finally see a well-built villain character, who is not only in the role of the enemy of the good, but is a main character. In this story I don't think there were any good guys and it was okay. It was one of the things I liked about this book. Adeline is a strong female character, but she wasn't strong enough to fight off her own darkness and although I liked the ending of this book, it didn't make me like the story more at the end. And I also think that the romance in this book could've been more worked out. Altogether I gave this book 3 stars, because I see a possibility in the story  to get more interesting in the second book, and also for the characters to develop. I loved the Legend trilogy by Marie Lu, so I hope I'm going to like the Rose society more, because this one left me a littlest disappointed.
Until next time,

The 5th Wave-movie review

Hey Everyone, I just saw one of my most anticipated movie adaptation this year. I think it was pretty good. But let's go into the details. First of all I didn't watch the movie in English, because it wasn't available in my local cinema. I watched it in Hungarian and it was a huge mood buster. I couldn't really say, how accurate they were with the names for example. But as far as the story went, i think it was pretty much like it was in the book. The only thing I didn't like in the movie was, that they were putting the two big plot-twist too close to each other. I cannot really say, if they were as close as they were in the books, because I read the book back in the beginning of 2015, but it wasn't looking good in a movie. The mood and the atmosphere on the screen was exactly like it was throughout the book and I really liked it.
The actors were surprisingly really well chosen as well. They had chemistry, they had almost the same feel to them as they had in the book. Before this movie I didn't really like Chloe Grace Moretz, but thanks to this movie I'm looking forward to see her in other movies. She made Cassie real, although in some moments I couldn't understand her acting, but altogether it was one of the best character adaptations. Nick Robinson plays Ben Parrish aka Zombie, and he is exactly how I imagined Ben before. I've never seen him in a movie before, but I'm sure I want to. My least favorite character in this movie was definitely Evan Walker. I loved him in the books, but in the movie something wasn't on point with the character. I don't know why I feel this way, but something about him wasn't completely coming through on the screen. Alex Rose played him and I can't just say it was the fault of his acting, because maybe it was written like this for him in the script, but i definitely think that it could have been better delivered. He wasn't giving the impression of a strong man, who is kind of debating his own nature, because he realises it's not right. He gave the impression of a usual guy character from a bad romantic movie. Ringer was played by Maika Monroe, also someone I don't know from any movie, but she delivered a sassy, badass and fun character, with the look I expected. The little boy, who played Sam or Nugget, was Zackary Arthur and he didn't cause any disappointment, but there is not much to say about his acting. He was cute and we sobbed when he was taken, but he wasn't in the movie that much to say anything about his acting.
Altogether this movie is really good and I'm relieved. I was really afraid of this adaptation, because it could've gone wrong on so many ways, but it was well done most of the time.
I definitely recommend you to watch this movie, if you red and liked
the book, or even if you didn't, you're going to enjoy it either ways or maybe you're going to like it even more if you don't know about the big plot twists.
Until next time

November 9 by Colleen Hoover Review

Hey Everyone, I hope you have a wonderful day with a lot of reading and of course with a review from me.
Well, I cannot even speak right now, because it was such an awesome and fun contemporary romance book. I just recently started to read Colleen Hoover books, but I love them. They are easy to read, the stories are well built and even if sometimes the characters are annoying a little bit, they are interesting. When I saw this book all around booktube, I wanted to read it right away. Not just because of the beautiful cover, but the story seemed to have an interesting plot line.
This is a story about a girl, her name is Fallon. And about a boy, whose name is Ben and he is also a writer. He is by far far one of the most impulsive male characters in my opinion, but he is also very complicated. I feel like we instantly get to know Fallon, but we only get to "see" the real Ben as the book is going to end. They are both 18 years old at the beginning of the story. What is not on the back of this book, is that Fallon had an accident, in which one side of her body was left scarred. It was a fire, and she is blaming her father because of it. She is an ex-actress as well and her whole carrier was over because of the accident. She is really insecure about her body, but she wants to start acting again so she is moving to New York on the day we pick up the story, on November 9th. ,where she wants to audition on Broadway to start her carrier again. November 9th is also the two year anniversary of the fire. Her father is not supportive, he thinks her whole carrier was gone with the fire and he thinks she is just wasting her time. They are sitting in a restaurant together, when Fallon just sees this cute guy, who is not looking away from her. When her father starts to be annoying and totally unsupportive again, the guy from the other booth just sits next to Fallon and he basically starts to act like he is Fallons boyfriend. He even helps her with her father. When her father is gone they start this fake relationship, and they instantly have chemistry between them, but they both know that they probably will never see each other again, because Fallon is moving away to New York (btw. the story takes place in Los Angeles). Ben is a writer and he has this idea that they should meet every november 9th for five years and Ben can write a book about is and until then they both can figure out their life. They don't talk to each other during the year, they don't know each others phone number. So  they see each other every year on November 9th. And each time they have to say goodbye from the other, although they are I think pretty much in love from the beginning. Life happens and they never seem to find each other at right time. We only see them once a year and surprisingly we don't feel left out from the story, because those days are very well written. Fallon and Ben can also talk to each other like they haven't missed a year from the others life. This book is pretty much an emotional roller coaster. So many things are happening trough the story, you don't even realize you red about five or six years.
Okay, now talk about the problems with tis book. As you could guess altogether it was a good book, but sometimes I just felt like it was too dramatic at some points and although it was really intense, I just didn't get the heartbreak or the tears, because it was just too much at the same time.
I liked that it was told from two different points of views and I even liked the end of the book, so I'm not disappointed at all. The most interesting thing was, how everything came together at the end of the book. This book made me read all day and I just flew through the pages so quickly. I'm definitely going to read more Colleen Hoover during 2016.
Until next time,
Bianka

My true love gave to me book review

Hey, I hope you all had a great New Year's Eve, mine was really good and I'm ready for a super awesome 2016. Today I have a book review about a book I got for Christmas and already finished it. The title of the book is My true love gave to me and it contains 12 holiday stories by different authors. I honestly asked for this book, because it was edited by Stephanie Perkins and she is one of my all time favorite authors out there. Probably she is my favorite. If you didn't know, she wrote Anna and the french kiss, which is my absolute favorite book. Plus I saw the list of authors, whose stories are in the book and I saw Ally Carter's name on the cover (author of the Gallagher Academy series and the Embassy Row series) and I love those books, so I immediately knew, that this book is for me. And it was the perfect read for the holidays. I liked the characters, the storylines and I'm going to be honest I was really afraid of the stories being so short, because how do you put a complete, well structured, enjoyable love story in 12 pages, but even the parts were the characters just started to like each other after 2 pages, it didn't bother me. Let's face it Christmas is about family, love and miracles. Anything can happen. You're glad to read stories like this, because you just feel the holiday spirit and a part of you wants to believe, the everything is possible around Christmas. In my opinion, it would be almost impossible, to enjoy these stories this much, if it's not the holidays. Don't get me wrong the best part of this book was, that it's simple and sweet and that's all I wanted from this book. I didn't like two of the stories, but in all together, even the authors I don't like surprised me. My favorite stories were the ones by Rainbow Rowell, Stephanie Perkins, Ally Carter and Gayle Forman. I also liked the one by Matt de la Pena. My least favorite stories were the one by Laini Taylor and Myra McEntire. I couldn't even read them trough, they just didn't catch my attention.
Altogether this book was really awesome, it didn't disappoint me at all and I definetly think next year around Christmas you should pick it up (if you haven't already) or you can pick it up now and extend your holiday a little bit.
5 out 5 stars.
Talk  to you soon,
Bianka
